Perth Boomerang Training – learn with the masters @ Southern River Fields

If you have just bought an aerodynamic boomerang (a boomerang that is made to return), either from a souvenir shop or at the Fremantle Markets, come join the master boomerang throwers at Southern River fields (Gay St) near Gosnells, which has several very large fields for safe boomerang practice. The boomerang masters meet for training each Sunday morning from 9am. They will provide free and continued training for anybody interested in knowing how to throw a boomerang.  You never know? West Australian Annual Competition 2019 @ Rossiter Park Pavilion

The newly formed West Australian Boomerang Association (WABA) will be organising their first and West Australia’s 33rd annual competition.

The organiser, Christene Metzakis, who has been doing some great work in the last 2 years promoting the sport in WA really hopes you can make it down especially considering this will be a great warm up for the 50th BAA celebration Nationals, which will be held 2 weeks exactly after the WA competition. Australian Nationals 50th Anniversary 2019 @ Piara Waters

2019 will see the association celebrate the 50th Australian Championships Anniversary, which will be held in Perth, Western Australia.

International throwers are welcome and will be given free entry to the competitions as well as cheap accommodation options. Throwers from America, Germany, Indonesia and now Mongolia will be attending for the first time.

It will be a 3 day event that will include an individual day, team day, and a fun day with a Boomerang Masterclass, which will include night events.

Former Australian Boomerang World Champion Rob Croll will be donating an original made Bill Onus boomerang for the first 6 places overall.

What to Bring to the Nationals:

1.        Stop Watch

2.        Jumper/Jacket. It will be cool at night.

3.        A couple of items for the auction.

4.        Water Bottle and caps/hats.

5.        Cash for the registration, T/Shirts and Auction.

6.         All meals and drinks are supplied at this event and please note that toilets and showers are available all day. You will need to pay or have paid the $15 BAA membership fee to compete at the Nationals (applicable for all Australian Throwers and not International visitors).

Team Competition:

Saturday 13th April practise 9.30am and competition starts 10am.

Please bring your own lunch and drinks for the day. The BAA AGM will be held immediately after the team competition approx. 3.30pm.

Individuals Competition:

Sunday 14th April 2019 practise 7.30am and official start is 8.30am and finish 5.30pm. Registration cost per thrower is $20, which includes Subway lunch and BBQ.  $10.00 for non throwers attending the BBQ, including lunch. Drinks and refreshments with Aussie BBQ after the Individual Competition about 6pm, with trophy presentations from 7pm. There will be an auction following presentations at 7.45pm. Please bring one of your boomerangs and/or t-shirts for the auction, which should be lodged by 6pm. There will be a couple of very good items up for auction including an airbrushed Aussie Round boomerang (from Listyo in Indonesia) and MTA’s, as well as some Indonesian boomerangs, which will also be for sale during the day.

Monday and Fun Night

Monday 15th April Boomerang making session masterclass at Rangs Workshop, Bedfordale from 11am. Please advise if you are attending as numbers are restricted.

Monday night will be a fun night throwing event to be held at Southern River (entrance of Gay St). Start time will be around 7pm.
